So I decided to start a blog to share all the fun happening here with everyone back home. In case you don't already know, I've been in Khao Lak, Thailand since Dec. 14 volunteering for the Tsunami Volunteer Center. This is part of the USC Volunteer Center's Alternative Winter Break program.

Ideally, I'd like to make a post at the end of each day explaining what I did. Since I've already been here for about a week, I'm gonna give a brief summary of what we've done so far. Enjoy and check back for more journalizations of this trip.

Our total trip to Khao Lak from LA took about 23.5 hours. It was quite exhausting but I got to watch a couple cool movies, read a little bit of The Fountainhead (great book), day-dreamed and slept. We stopped in Taipei, Singapore, and finally landed in Phuket to make the two hour drive to Khao Lak. Khao Lak is located on the southern end of Thailand. It's mostly a tourist town with all the amenities one would enjoy on a trip (bars, tailors, close-by beach, great food, cheap but quality massage places, etc.).

We live in these small bungalows located in the back of a family owned restaurant called Jai's. The weather is always really great as you can see in the pics. And the grass you see there, is the real thing unlike you find back home. No sprinklers required. We each share the bungalows with our fellow usc comrades. I share mine with Taylor and Jessee. You'll see pics of them later. Oh and my bungalow is the one on the left behind the tree.

I gotta go to some group meeting so I'll check back in later.
